The
Pennsylvania Food Safety Alliance
Funded through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department
of Agriculture, the Pennsylvania Food Safety Alliance consists
of members from industry, government, and academia, representing
the production, processing, foodservice/retail, and consumer
sectors of the food system.

Safety Certification Training
These courses meets the requirements for the Pennsylvania
Department of Agriculture's Food Employee Certification
Program and are offered throughout the Commonwealth.

Safety for Mushroom Growers and Packers
The
Penn State Department of Food Science and the American Mushroom
Institute have partnered to develop a pro-active food safety
program for growing, packing, and fresh-cut processing of
mushrooms.
Development
of a Pennsylvania Apple Quality Assurance Program
A collaborative team from the Departments of Food Science
and Horticulture, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture
(PDA), and the Pennsylvania apple industry are developing
a unified set of food safety standards for apple growers
and packers in Pennsylvania.
Wild
Game Meat Safety - Field to Table
Educating outdoorsmen on the importance of proper field
dressing, handling, transporting, and processing practices
of wild game and fish to prevent foodborne illness.
