• The Standard Plate Count (SPC)

• • Most commonly used throughout the industry- required by FDA and state regulatory agencies
  • Gives an indication of the total aerobic bacteria present in milk
  • Milk samples are plated on a plate count agar and incubated for 48 hours at 32oC (90oF), after which bacterial colonies are counted
